Sheriffs detonate backpack found by Glen Avon bank

Police have surrounded a bank in Glen Avon this afternoon after a suspicious backpack was left outside.

A Riverside County sheriff’s hazardous device team surrounded the Union Bank on Mission Boulevard after a report of a suspicious package, sheriff’s Deputy Herlinda Valenzuela said.
The bank was cordoned off by police and has been evacuated, Valenzuela said. The backpack found by security guards by an ATM machine was detonated as a precaution, Valenzuela said. Police are planning to detonate two additional containers found inside, Valenzuela said.

It’s unclear what was in any of the containers.
