Yesterday, a little bit of Pedley died. The Vons at Limonite & Van Buren closed, permanently.
I remember when Vons was the pride of Pedley, after it replaced the horse auction. I also remember them selling Pedley t-shirts. I wish I had one...
Not that the Vons was doing too well as of late. I've stopped in a few times lately, since it is close to home--but I found myself hunting through expired product to find 'good' items like eggs and cheese. For regular grocery shopping I would drive past the Pedley Vons to Stater Bros., or, if I wanted to go to Vons, I would go to the nice new fancy location in Eastvale. I know I was not the only one, as Vons closed.
The last few days were ugly for the Pedley Vons. A 50% off sale brought in more business than I had seen since the place opened. It was chaos.
Rumor has it a Mexican market of some type will open in its place.
Pedley has changed.
